Introducing Fireframes ClearView™ System

To enhance architectural design possibilities, Technical Glass Products introduces a butt-glazed, fire-rated framing system that eliminates the need for colored internal spacers or vertical mullions between adjoining pieces of glass. With a narrow 5 mm vertical butt joint and available in nearly 10-foot heights, the Fireframes ClearView™ System allows design professionals to create extensive fire-rated glazed walls with nearly colorless transitions between glass panels, for greater vision and transparency through hallways in commercial buildings.

"As architects look to create beautiful glazing with uninterrupted views, we're proud to offer this new system," said Jeff Razwick, president of Technical Glass Products. "It's the next step in a long evolution of fire-rated glazing having aesthetics comparable to non-rated systems."

Learn more about the high-performance fire-rated glazing product that won an honorable mention in the 2016 "Best of Products" Awards from The Architects Newspaper.

New Fireframes SG Curtainwall® Series Brings Fire Protection in Line with Aesthetics

Technical Glass Products’ (TGP) new Fireframes SG Curtainwall® Series allows design professionals to create large, fire-rated glazed walls with the smooth, monolithic appearance of a structural silicone glazed system. Once installed, the patented, fire-rated toggle retention system features an uninterrupted surface appearance that provides up to 120 minutes of fire resistance for interior and exterior applications.

Smooth and monolithic is what LMN Architect’s 929 Office Tower, in Bellevue, Washington, got thanks to TGP. The building is attracting big name tenants like the cloud-computing giant Salesforce. Many of these occupants will walk past its stylish glass-clad exterior on their way to work every day without realizing select portions provide critical protection against the spread of fire between adjacent structures. Read about how the Fireframes SG Curtainwall Series brought fire and life safety protection in line with the building's aesthetic design intent in our case study.

Case Study: Grant Thornton Tower

When Grant Thornton, LLP, moved its U.S. headquarters to the former Chicago Title & Trust Center in 2015, “its lease was saddled with a very dark, almost unusable area on their most important floor,” said Ken Novak, NCIDQ, Associate, Stantec Architecture.

Learn more about how the design team used TGP’s Fireframes® Curtainwall Series fire-resistant frames with Pilkington Pyrostop® fire-resistant glass to turn a long, dark corridor into a welcoming, light-filled space.

Case Study: Brooklin High School

To provide natural light and visibility for students and staff, as well as fulfill code requirements for defending against the spread of flames and smoke in case of a fire, Aerloc Industries (Dundas, Ontario) installed FireLite Plus® and FireLite® NT high-performance fire-rated glass ceramic in doors, sidelites, transoms and interior windows throughout the school. With the clarity of ordinary window glass, the fire-rated glazing provides essential life safety while helping to create a welcoming school environment. The multi-functional glass ceramic is also impact safety rated, to help prevent injuries from glass breakage if students run into it – important in a busy school.
